Bayern Munich has now signed Madrid’s James Rodriguez (25) on a two season loan for a fee of around €10 million.
“James is a versatile player. There’s no doubt that this transfer further increases the quality of our team.” explained Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The 2014 World Cup top scorer joined the Royal club of Europe in 2014 from AS Monaco for a fee of €80 million, since then he has played 111 games and scored 36 goals for them. His contract expires in 2020 and his current market value is around €50 million.
James will also be reunited with his former manager. He was coached by Ancelotti at Madrid during the 2014-2015 season, and unlike with Zidane, he was given his place in the starting line-up by Carlo.
James will be going to the Bayern Asia-tour next Sunday, where he may already play his first games for the Bavarians. Bayern will play FC Arsenal (19. July), AC Milan (22. July), FC Chelsea (25. July) and Inter Milan (27. July).
Up front, James can provide something extra on the wings as a replacement for either Franck Ribery or Arjen Robben who will soon be retiring. There is also the benefit of James’s creativity to help the out-and-out classic striker Lewandowski.
